How it all started...
In the year 1930, St. Charles First Baptist Church was organized under that name, and was affiliated with Power River Association, Southern Baptist Convention. A preacher by the name of Chambers came to St. Charles in June, 1930, to hold a tent revival. This revival greatly stirred the group who were meeting in the old school house, opening their eyes to the need of a Baptist church in St. Charles which would be a member of the Powell River Association and affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Result was that the St. Charles First Baptist Church, Southern Baptist Convention, was organized.
Expanding the vision...
Reverend Clinton Greene became pastor of the church in 1931. It was on a third Sunday in October that the committee spoke with him about him becoming pastor of the church. The Greene family moved to St. Charles in March 1932. On March 2, 1941, the pastor appointed a committee to see about buying a lot to be the site of the new church building. The lot purchased and the building erected is the present site of the church. A dedication service for the purpose of dedicating the church building to the Lord was held at the church on the evening of October 20, 1946, with Reverend Clinton Greene in charge.
Where we are headed...
Paul Davis Jr. has served as our pastor since February 2001. The church continues with our compassion to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with our local community, as well as support missions around the globe.
With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we continued to share the gospel in new ways including online services and expanding to two services to accommodate those who wish to attend in person and maintain our requirements for social distancing.
We believe that the harvest is ripe for revival as our nation begins to recover from the pandemic. We are grateful for the faithfulness of our church family throughout this time.
